what's this was created by J.D. glinister
Hi this is my first post

I would like to know if someone could ID this for me, it was a wandering male, I caught it in Riversdale Western Cape. He was walking around in broad daylight wich I thought was odd. Some people think its an OBT any other suggestions?

just before everyone come yelling at me I only caught it because I didn't have my camera with me in the veld. I released the spider later that same night in the same spot I found it.

looks like a Pterinochilus murinus to me, exept its missing the pattern on the abdomen. So I stand corrected but 90% sure its an OBT.

Yip looks like a Pterinochilus Murinus (Usambara Baboon) .

It is really beautiful. Was it not vicious seems like he took a liking in you.

The best would be to contact Patrick Gildenhuys or look for him on the baboon spiders facebook page and see if he could help you.
It will be very difficult to id from a pic though, so it might not be 100%

I was wondering the same thing.... They are notoriously aggressiveness, called an "Orange Bitey Thing" for a good reason. Strange that a wild cought one is that placid.
