Im also trying to breed with my Hissing Roaches as i can not take the kriekets any more. Do you have to move the nymphs into a seperate housing? and how does the unhatched eggs look? do you have any pics you can post?

I just now went and bought a packet of those water crystal balls. Can they be used for water to the crickets and roaches also?
Or must it be special ones from SAroachman.

Hissers give live birth to +-25 young and no you don't need to move them out of the enclosure. They are safe with the adults. My Turkistans and Bubai's also wont eat their young at all. Roaches are very different than Tarantulas, the love being in a HUGE community and the more the merrier. I would however suggest you get Blatta Lateralis roaches also know as (Turkish/ Turkistans and Forest roaches) They grow to about the size of an adult cricket. Once your colony is set you will never have to buy any live stock, and when you need smaller feeders, collect all the eggs at the bottom and keep them in a separate container with a small piece of egg crate. The nymphs will hatch and hide inside egg crate which you could use to feed to your smaller Tarantulas

Thanks iclazion, any suggestions where i can find these roaches? and would the hissing roach nymphs be okey to feed my slings? as currently i still feed them pin heads or mealworms.

Hi AngieP the easiest supplier fir B.lateralis now would be Tim at www.petbug.co.za or you could try www.the-spider-shop.com/feeders.html . The nymphs live born from the Hissers are about 5mm x 4mm if not bigger. The B.lateralis / Turkistans nymphs that are new born will be small enough to feed to your Tarantulas, and they breed like crazy. You will have to wait one LONG time for your hissers to start a nice colony and when you are feeding all the nymphs off it will not be worth it :)

I still stick to the rule:
a) for most tarantulas it's excellent to keep Blatta lateralis
b) for BIG mature tarantulas I would feed Dubai roaches to.
