I was used as an example, so allow me to respond. Many people vehemently criticised me for publicly posting my experiences with M balfouri. My only excuse, I love them so much, I want them to be in every collection. For free?? Are you crazy?? There should always be a balance. Money has advantages, keeping spiders is gratifying, so why not have a healthy balance between the two?

On the breeding topic, I challenge anybody to document a fool proof recipe.

Most people are like clouds. The sun comes out when they f*ck off...

Agreed! I'm busy breeding my first T, a vagans :P, and this whole experience has shown me how awesome breeding Ts are! I wasn't going to breed my curly but now i want to just for the experience, I plan to sell them for R5 maybe less per sling as I do want some money for new Ts but it isn't my biggest concern. I just want to breed more and more Ts, when your spider drops and egg sack you feel a huge amount of accomplishment. In the hobby people have to make a bit of money I guess but some people take it too far like Onyx said. I advertised for a male A. chalcodes twice and both my adverts were taken down, why? There are a few people that are ruining this hobby, people must stop being selfish, we all want Ts but a few just want money, and those people are the problem.

I also agree with Cerat though that rare spiders should be sold for more, he managed to acquire a rare spider, paid a lot for it, and was successful in breeding it, there deserves to be a right price, but even when cerat charges more for a rarer T it isnt over the top like some other guys. So yes we need more breeders like Cerat that understand the hobby and are doing it for the right reasons :)

You will want to make some cash on the vagans when you see how much time, money and effort it takes to rehouse and feed 600 slings. :)

I cant answer your wanted ad for the chalcodes male, but did you put it in the right section? I know that there are no moderators/admin (They are the only people that can delete posts) that would delete posts to try and be the only one's breeding that species. If they did, then there are serious problems.

Like I said, once each person has successfully bred a spider it is their right to decide if they want to share the info or not. :)

@ Ceratogyrus

Lol did I do anything to piss you off?

Look again I hear what you are saying and yes I agree that a pet shop has high overhead. Like I said leave the pet-shops to do the money grabbing and leave the breeding to us.

The discussion is not about making profits or not. Its about breeding T's and growing the hobby not so? Well in that case it stands to reason that we share the information we have. Thought that was the idea behind the forum in the first place. Share information and grow the hobby. Getting new breeders up and running and help them gain the best results they possibly can. In the end it will benefit you and me both.

Sharing information lol well that is what I thought we doing here  But you right let poor John wast thousands of rands trying to breed a rare species that he wants to contribute to the hobby. The rest of us will wait 10 years for him to figure out what the secret was that other breeders on the forum was withholding from him.

Lol thats just awesome :woohoo:

I hope it's just because I put it in the wrong place will try again now, but if it was because they want to be the only ones breeding, then yes there are big problems, because I know a few guys that are trying to breed some chalcodes. But thanks for your time to help all the new guys out Cerat ;)

No, You didn't piss me off. I just think you are not looking at the bigger picture. :)

The forum is here to share, yes, but the person who has done all the research and work into breeding has the right to decide if he wants to share that info. You can't make that decision for him/her unfortunately.

Why is he wasting money? Its great experience to keep rare species and try your hand at breeding. Its not about money, remember. :) By trying your hand at breeding you are not wasting anything, just gaining valuble experience.
