Hi,

I bought a B. smithi on the 19th Augusts 2010. The seller told me that it hadn't eaten and hadn't shed since the beginning of the year...

So, I have had it for not even two months and it has shed TWICE ????

It shed today again for the second time since I got it.

It was 5.5cm legspan when I got it, it then shed and was at 7cm legspan, it is now at 9cm.

This is a first time for me having a T grow so fas at this size...and everyone has said B. smithi grow slowly...I am not so sure anymore.

Has this happened to any of you???

Howzit well i love my Baracs and have a lot of them. But no never all Barac species are sloooooooow growing Ts dont know but i recon you have a male there can be wrong but dont think so. recon for that look at abdomen to lean. Ive that is the case dont worry there is a lot of females around ive got 4

My B boehmei is also quite a fast grower:
24 May - 4.5cm (Arrived)
9 June - 5.5cm
15 July - 7cm
20 Sep - 8cm

Oh, definitely a male. so might be why he grows so fast.
2 of my 3 Brachypelma albopilosums also grew very fast. They both seem to be male:
24 May - 3.5cm
26 June - 4.5cm
19 July - 5.5cm
18 Aug - 7cm
4 Oct - 8cm
