Hi Everyone

I am very sad about this. I really feel like I have done something wrong.
But anyway... here goes.

I got the Acanthosurria geniculata from Shinobi dragon last week. On Wednesday I rehoused her to a slightly larger container that I kept my B boehmei in. This was due to the this container being slightly too large for the B boehmei and more suitable for the geni.
I fed the geni (smaller crickets) on Wednesday evening and she ate very well (the pic I posted was from that night).

On Sunday I added a hide made of half a plastic pot and added some plastic plants I got from the pet shop. I also added a small plastic container with some water. I noticed her taking a drink a bit later from the bowl (I have some photos of this). At night I again gave her a cricket (medium sized), but she did not touch it which was odd to me.

She walked around the cage on Sunday and Monday morning. Yesterday afternoon when I got home, I noticed her sitting in the one corner, looked like any other time I saw here sitting in what looks like a bundle, legs covering eyes, etc.
But later in the evening, I noticed she hasn't moved. So I took the uneaten cricket and placed it right in front her, still, no movement.
I then started to touch her with the forceps and she was completely lifeless. Not a single movement. I placed her in an ICU just in case, you know, molt or whatever. But this morning, still nothing. So she is probably dead.

I used the same plants and water containers in 4 other Ts as well, they are all fine.
I suspect it might have been the pot I cut in half with my dremel, but after cutting it was out in the open for an entire day, so any plastic fumes would be long gone. This is the only unique thing about the cage.

I was thinking that perhaps she hurt herself on something inside the cage, but the cricket also died within 24 hours. So something must be poisonous... well that is what I am thinking. But what?
For precautions, I removed everything new from all the other containers, water bowl, plastic plants, etc.

No sprays of any kind anywhere near the Ts. The others are in close proximity, they are all fine.

I really feel horrible about this. I must have done something wrong. This is my first death of a T, and it is not a sling, it was a beautiful 7cm specimen. Any ideas or suggestions as to what might have been the cause?

Were the plastic plants you bought in sealed plastic or open?
The flower pot you cut in half used or new?

I presume you washed the above properly before introducing?

I am asking because I know some shops would spray displays and/or shelving with insect killiers or repelants. There are many other factors that we can only geuss at, and no, it is not necessarily something you did wrong.

Sad to hear that, Synergy. To me it sounds like you haven't done anything wrong, and crickets die easily, so there doesn't need to be a connection. Leave your T' alone for a while - there might be a very small chance that she was about to moult.

Most T's, after they died or even before, show that typical "death curl" with their legs tucked under them.

The only thing gone wrong I could think of is that you might have accidentally left some cleaning agent residue on her new furnishings, especially on the water dish.

The plants were sealed, the pot was new, but unsealed, as well as the water bowls, they were not sealed. I did not wash it with any soap or anything like that, just water.

I still have the T in an ICU. Will keep it nice and warm for a while. The body is still not stiff.
