Just thought I'd post this as a warning to everyone:

I recently acquired two C.cyanopubescens slings, and when I checked up on them tonight, one of the
containers was swarmed with ants and I found a few bits and pieces of the T inside.
The other container had about 20 ants in it and there were 2 on the T. It was sitting on a little piece of bark
in the middle trying to isolate itself.
Luckily I could save it.
It is moving very slowly and weakly and I suspect it might be injured.
Bloody ants!

Has anyone else had this experience?

I had a similar experience in December
Just after i had bought a 10cm N. chromatus. i had rehoused it and didnt want to leave it on my side table encase i bumped it over in the night(also my T shelf was full. so i put its tank on the floor, in the morning i looked inside and found it swarming with ants. luckily the T had allready made a deep burrow and was seeking safety at the bottom. i quickly removed her and though all the ants and peat into the garden then rehoused her and went that day to get some more shelving for the T's I now use floating shelves this way very unlikely to have ants again.

I also had an experience with ants getting into a box of crickets and they ate every cricket in the box. there were 2 left of a brand new box and they had all their legs removed. and all this happened overnight. i then started housing my crickets in the top of a cupboard. i think the ants may have been attracted by the noise the crickets made in their box. but since going to roaches i havnt had any problems.

I've had the ant issue as well.

The advice I got from a pet shop is to through down baby powder around the cricket tubs, as the ants won't cross the baby powder.

Guess what? It works like a charm! I haven't had one ant near the crickets since I sprinkled the baby powder.

Please try it and please let me know if it works this well for you.

At the moment there's an ant plague going on here!

I definitely need to get some secure shelves in place, as I'm using book shelves at the moment.

I even thought of creating some sort of moat around my enclosure. Or perhaps along the walls on the inside.
I am getting some baby powder tomorrow!

Good news is that the other sling survived and actually molted yesterday. Strange really.

Hi Sorry to hear of your loss.
I have my tanks in a bookshelf and cut wooden planks smaller than the shelves with screws on the bottom as paws in little caps of oil. The only way an ant could get to the tanks is to walk through the oil, havent had a problem since. This was after they attacked my blue fang twice, luckily no harm done.
Cinnamin also works apparently.

Vinegar & Water (50/50 mix).
One of these essential oils:
Peppermint, Lavender, Eucalyptus, Tea Tree Oil, Witch Hazel Extract (1 tablespoon) plus water–per spray bottle.
Liquid Dish Detergent & Water (about 1 tablespoon detergent, fill spray bottle with water)."
