Hi guys!

I stay in Johannesburg so it gets chilly at night and my room is very cold. I do have heating mats to the sides of all my slings. Last night the power went off while sleeping and obviously all my slings temps went down. Are slings hardy with regards to temperature? Can I just move them to a warmer room in the house during the day? If the power does not go on today should I move them to a friends house so the heating mats can be on tonight?

Without heating pads in the warmer rooms the temp we are looking at a temp of about 24-25deg C and at night a minimum of 8 about and at the moment 14deg C. Have already moved them to a better room.

Hey mate. Your T's will be fine. Tarantulas are quite hardy and wont "sommer" die at temps above zero. Just keep an eye on the humidity, as cold does cause the humidity to drop.

This is not good practice, so move your T's back to where your heat pads are as soon as the power comes back on.

Wynster, humidity goes up when the temperatures drop. Humidity in the tanks will drop, though, if you heat the tanks up after the cold. Basic physics
