Packing juvenile and adults.
Depending on the size of the spider, a small cricket tub or 50/70ml pill container should be suffice to pack most spiders.
Make sure the container is clean, and all the sides are not damaged.
Use a pin or needle to punch holes in the contained side and lid.
Line the container with dry toilet paper or calton roll.
Make sure all sides are lines with sufficient paper to cushion any unexpected bumps while
travelling.
Wrap the paper round 2 fingers for the pill container and make a tube like cocoon ,then insert it into the container.
Once you have coaxed the spider into the container, make sure that it is not too tight, but not loose enough that it will get knocked around in the container.
Spray a ball of paper with fresh water and place this over the top of the container like
a cork.
Please make sure that you do not squeeze the spider or over pack it with the cork.
Give the whole container one squirt with fresh water and then seal.
Pack the containers in a small box.
Use toilet paper/ foam/ news paper to fill the gaps so the containers to not have any
room to move or roll in the box.
If the box is going to take longer than 3 days to arrive at its destination, wrap the
containers in calton roll before seating them in the box. Then spray the calton roll
lightly once in the box.
Do not punch holes in the box, spiders do not use up very much air, and will be fine
with the amount of air in the box for up to 7 days.
Close box and seal with tape.
