I cant seem to get hold of breeders I got my spider from.

I got a book called "the tarantula keepers guide" bit confusing to read.

any way not sure if its to small to tell but I asked for a mexican red knee not sure if its a Brachypelma smithi?

It's most definitely a Tarantula, at the size it could be a LOT of different species, thus making it impossible to ID... Sorry

Your next molt will show. The red knees will begin to show.

Do you have any idea what it took to write the d**n thing? As a group, tarantulas are very confusing. They violate all the rules and don't resemble anything else we've ever encountered before. I've been studying them for almost half a century and am still learning new things about them almost every day.

Welcome to a fascinating, probably endless hobby.

sorry I did not mean any disrespect to the book really learning at lot from it...just get lost as i read along the book say go to pg 133 for example then I keep jumping around while reading.
I am no spider or reader expert only got my spider the 26 of Sep this year n its my 1st. Been looking for books every were so I can learn bout my spider n what to do.looked every were but no luck spiders not a big in cape town I dont think. Took me 4 weeks to get your book. Then I joined this forum and much say been very helpful all around.

Don't worry Willa, Uncle Stan didn't take offence. Yes it's all too much information, but the Tarantula keeper's guide is a very good place to start. As you grow in the hobby, you will understand more of the stuff in the book. Also don't be weary to post questions on this forum. Lot's of enthusiasts here will gladly share information and advise. We are all still learning and keen to hear and learn from each other.
