So because all my spiders are so small and i got myself an extermely huge exoterra arboreal kit i am not sure what to do with it.

So my idea was the following:

1 - Add a nice biggish plant
2 - Add 10 x Avicularia avicularia (Pinktoe)
3 - Add about 10cm substrate and nice hides small pond
4 - Add 4 x Hysterocrates gigas (Cameroon Red Baboon)

So the Avics will rule the sky and the gigas will rule the ground

What you guys reckon, disaster or might it work?

I think it comes down to risk vs reward.

You'll probably have higher mortality than say H. incei communal, but then again you'll have the coolest damn enclosure by far!

I say go for it. And whilst you're at it, add moar avics!

I'm not impossible. I'm being improbable.

Avics won't stay communal and will eat each other. You could get a community of P.miranda in there though however you'd have to start with a small enclosure and work up to the big one.

Only problem with that is, pokies like to chill on the ground, avics seems to be the only "true" aboreal spider, spending all its time as high as possible. I think if the enclosure is tall enough and the roaches can get to the avics so they don't have to come down to eat it could possibly work. I say go for it! :) I want pictures at least once a week with updates :)

It won't work with avics, they don't have the tolerance to co-habit like pokies. They will separate and become territorial and sooner or later there will be one fat avic. If you keep the hide small in a pokie community it will do well. There are a few people on other forums doing it with great success. Anyone who has tried with avics has not lasted more than a few months. The only pokie I wouldn't try it with is P.ornata but just about all the other hobby pokies should be fine.
