Good day all, I thought it was time to start this thread about these fascinating arachnids, so that the members who don’t know much about them, can become acquainted with them.

A few of the forum members do keep Amblypygi (Tailless Whip Scorpions) and I would like them to please share their experiences with us.

The purpose of this thread is to share information about these arachnids, to show us your setup, to pass on feeding and moulting information, as well as any other interesting observations what you have made.

Hopefully this will spark interest in keeping them as pets among members and rid us of some of the misconceptions surrounding them.

Are they not illegal ? But any way I kept one for a year, it ate like a monster, I used the same set up that you would use for a pokie except i used rocks rather then bark. I kept the humidity high around 60 %(its about that in a cave where i found mine). The reason that i dont have her anymore is that i needed some open caches for t's. Enjoy it !!
You only have one life live it !!

You don't need any permits to keep them. They are legal. They are amazing funny little pets. I just love it when they run, they just do it side ways with a speed.

Where do you stay that you have these in your garden?
I am lucky to find anything other than ants, daddy longlegs or brown widow spiders in my garden, and I have looked.

I stay in Westville outside Durban, I'm pretty fortunate to have quite a few interesting inverts and verts living in the garden. Will take a few photo's of the big ones that stay outside lol.

I love how they bash their prey with those spiked claws.

Don't go around saying the world owes you a living, the world owes you nothing, it was here first.

The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.
