In my experience I've come across a wide and diverse community when it comes to the keeping of Tarantulas, snakes and other exotics.

Having a platform like we have here on tarantulas.co.za could be a very nice source of info, provided we steward it correctly, or it can turn into a heap of hot air. It is of concern to me, that our spelling, and grammar is not up to scratch when it comes to posting. Also that we don't think about our organization of our posts. Questions asked that could easily been answered should enough initiative be applied.

I think it is important to maintain a firm level of English on the forum. Not only for the local English members, but also for the international members like Stan Schultz et al...

Personal disputes within our ranks has cost us dearly in the sense of skilled, and knowledgeable members that just lost joy in the community. They still keep tarantulas, but have no interest or intent to return to the forum. We only have ourselves to blame. Within the bounds of reason, we should be able to support our opinions with factual evidence, and refrain from emotional imaginary strongholds. So what if you disagree with me, it is your opinion, and I will respect it. Once we adapt to that attitude, we lay the foundation for meaningful conversation, and all the parties involved can walk away with something gained.

I don't say enforce my opinion here, but I say: Think about what could be gained, or what could be lost.

In the light of recent events I feel obliged to mention the following:

A wise interrogator often causes one to reflect upon a number of things and to learn about many others which, without the benefit of questions, one might never have learned.

If I thought that I would offend, I will not give my opinion on such matters; but I could not offend for the sake of argument, not in order to criticize.

I expect all members to take this into consideration and apply this when replying to a thread.
