There has been some confusion over the last couple of weeks regarding Lasiodora species.
Let’s try and solve this problem, because nobody really want to go site and measure every leg and compare it to the carapace and prefers judging by looks (this never is the best idea but let try it). We will only deal with color here.
Lasiodora difficilis
Mello-Leitao 1921
Integument of carapace dark red, clothed with black-grey pubescence with marginal red hairs.
Abdomen, velvet black with fiery red bristoles.
Legs, dusky black with orchre bristles and setae.
Underside, dusky brown.
Lasiodora klugi
Koch 1842
Ceph, yellow-grey or greenish grey with scarlet-red hairs on the fringe.
Abdomen, chestnut-black with long reddish hairs.
Chelicerea, grey with reddish hairs.
Legs, similar to ceph with long grey-reddish setae. (Fermorae, pat and tibs may have a light line).
Underside, chestnut-black with some scattered reddish or yellow hairs.
Lasiodora parahybana
Mello-Leitao 1917
Integument of ceph, dark scarlet brown with dense pubescence and fiery-red fringe hairs.
Chelicerae, brown-black.
Abdomen, velvet black with long salmon bristles.
Legs, yellowish-grey with longitudinal lines running through the femur, pat and tibs.
Femorae scapulae mahogany.
Underside, greyrusty brown.
Ladium, salmon-pink
Lasiodora striatipes
Ausserer, 1871
Unfortunately Ausserer only gives Brazil as habitat, and did not described them originally.
What I could find -
Basic color is dark brown, with a grey look to the spider.
Dorsal scutellum lighter, surrounded by a narrow, bright rim.
Abdomen almost black with long light hairs.
Legs are of a similar color, with lighter stripes.
