Hey All am new

So i work in a pet shop and had almost everything BUT tarantula's and i decided to get myself a Brachypelma albopilosum just to start off... Then I heard of the addiction problem and immediatly started researching every T i could and finding breeders and stuff. I started about 5 months ago with T's and am enjoying them so much, They are my favourite animal to look at and ofcourse brag about

But anyway I joined this forum to learn even more about T's so eventually i can breed and make some cash out of the hobby

I currently only have a Brachypelma albopilosum, Nhandu chromatus and my favourite tarantula above all the others! (Even above all the other colourful and big T's)...My Sub-adult B.Smithi!

Ahhh man he is just so amazing and docile, fascinating to feed and am hoping to make money with him and try breeding him

BUt anyways thats me hehe

Thx
V!N

Welcome Vinzy.

This hobby is bad for the budget, whether or not you will be making cash from it is probably debatable, but from what I have heard from long time breeders, not so much, but it is nice getting something back for the effort and patience.

A versicolors are quite hard to find. I got mine from Paul (SARoachman), but I see on his site they are sold out.
So while you wait, try some of the other nice looking species. The Brachypelma boehmei and auratum are pretty. The Cyclosternum fasciatums are stunning as well (snarf has some for sale @ cheap).

There are some P irminia sling (arboreal) available from quite a few breeders at the moment. They can have some attitude when they are larger, but are still awesome looking and nice character. (I am getting 2 tomorrow )
I have the P cambridgei specimens as well.
The Poecilotheria species are also not aggressive like most people believe. They are stunning, nice to observe when hunting and grow very quickly. Make very good display arboreals.

But anyway. Can go on for hours, ask my family and friends

Enjoy

Awesome man, I know a place where i can get an adult versicolor for R1290 and he eats like a champ but forst the price is a bit *Cough cough* and i want my versicolor as a spiderling so i can watch him grow and change colour

The B.Auratum's are awesome I ALMOST got one instead of my smithi but rather went for my smithi, think i will wait a while until i get one because i want different things each time, i dont want the 'Almost' same T's. And then the C.fasciatums are really nice looking but one problem is that they don't get big and am sorry but i like big T's

But the P irminia... Thats a different story.. Man i love those guys! WOW! I woulden't mind getting my hands on one of those beauty's!

Haha but thx for the info

I agree with you on the samey-ness of the B auratum and the B smithi, but I saw Scarab's mature female and it is stunning.

I also prefer slings myself, it is sometimes a pain to get small crickets and roaches to feed, but worth the effort.

My 1 C fasciatum is currently 8cm, very impressive. Looks pre-molt at the moment and still attracts many compliments from family and friends. Many people's favourite (like my wife), even more so than my 11cm P metallica and that is quite an accomplishment.

But yes, can't go wrong with a P irminia. When they get their adult colours, the orange on black makes it one of the best looking Ts around.

But get a Pokie as well. Especially if you like big Ts

Hi Vinzy, welcome to the forum. Hope you will get a lot of T's!
