so last week one of my P.fasciata slings decided to moult, however it moulted while I was away at work and I got home to find this poor spider in sad state, it's moult went COMPLETELY lobsided and this poor T was laying there with all it's legs inverted above it's carapace and stuck inside the old legs, it's fangs could not break free from the old fangs, luckily it's opisthosoma was able to break free but was still covered in old bits of exuvium that were still stuck.

I spent about an hour trying to surgically crack and break the old exuvium off but the T is still very small and all attempts simply led to the legs breaking off. I was able to get the old fangs off but the new fangs are deformed as they already started hardening while they were stuck.

Believe it or not, this poor T is still alive and kicking... well wiggling. It can still make use of it's fangs even though they are a bit skew, so I am going to try my hardest to keep this little fella alive. I am going to make cricket/roach soup and feed him while upside down by dripping the soup onto his mouth parts. The hope is that I can keep him so well fed that it will be able to molt again pretty soon so it's legs start to grow back.

I just hope I can get this right before Winter...

hope it pulls through man.... tough little guy to survive losing its legs. I believe you will help it back on track man!!!

it would make a lot of beginners feel better should one of their T's lose a leg.

Shame man Hope he pulls through. I can't imagine that it will be easy but best of luck to you (and him) and keep us updated.

I've actually got two T's missing legs, a P.irminia missing a pedipalp and a H. incei missing a leg.

He/She still looks pretty fat, so a meal or 2 should do it.
Just make sure it gets enough moisture with a drop of water in the fangs every week or so.
It can still pull through as difficult as it seems.
